To celebrate 40 years of Christmas in the Park, we are bringing back the Christmas in the Park parade! What later turned into the San Jose Holiday Parade, this year's Christmas in the Park Parade (to be held at 5:00pm on November 29) is a throwback to the original parade that was held in the evening, marking the start of Christmas in the Park and the official arrival of Santa Claus.
We are also excited to announce the addition of the "Parade of Neighbors"in the Christmas in the Park Parade.
The Parade of Neighbors is an opportunity for neighborhood and community groups from all across San Jose to create a lighted float that showcases the wide diversity of arts, culture and the crazy richness that makes up San Jose and its neighborhoods. Groups may apply and the best applications will be selected. So, make your application unforgettable. For the groups selected, Christmas in the Park will provide the rental of a flatbed trailer, basic paint, two risers, fringe and a $1000 budget (reimbursable by Christmas in the Park) to help build the float. Floats in the Parade of Neighbors will be judged, and the three winning entries will be awarded a grant of $5,000, $2,500 or $1,000 for their designated, eligible community non-profit organization.
There are a limited number of spaces available in the Parade of San Jose Neighbors. A maximum of 20 groups will be selected, however the selection process takes into consideration the application and creativity of the submission, so there is not a minimum number of groups that will be selected. Groups are responsible for their own tow vehicle and must provide proof of insurance.
The deadline to apply is September 27, 2019. The groups chosen for participation the Parade of Neighbors will be notified by October 11, 2019. For a complete list of the rules and requirements see the terms and conditions section in the form below.
